Playin' Possum ?

I glanced out my living room window and was startled to see what looked like a large rat eating the seed under our bird feeder.

Thankfully (?) it was just a baby possum.

Tufted Titmouse

While snapping pictures of Chickadees at my feeder I got a nice surprise when this Tufted Titmouse showed up and gave me a quick glance before flying off.

This Chickadee seems unfazed by me.

Myrtlewood

Here are two lovely, wooden bottles of Myrtlewood perfume that were owned by my Great Grandmother Delia and passed down to me by my Grandmother Goldie.

They came from the House of Myrtlewood in Oregon a woodworking business started in 1929 by William Beaumont. It's now known as the Oregon Connection and still in business.

Myrtlewood is a broad leaf evergreen native to Oregon and Northwestern California.

If you left click on the link above (highlighted in orange) and go to their website you can purchase a modern day version filled with myrtle perfume for $13.25.

"Will look cute and pitiful for food."

This cutie had just slid off the top of our squirrel proof feeder right into a snowbank before attempting this last ditch plea for sustenance. Nicely played, the squirrel feeder was promptly filled. Photo enhanced by picnik.

Suet Success!

I've never made suet before but came across some recipes and thought I'd try it. For a couple weeks not a single bird touched it but last weekend I saw a chickadee nibbling at it and today a female Downy woodpecker.

Making sure it's safe.

Going for it.

Being cautious.
